![]() complex construction of factory positioning improved gamestart position modified to improve trading options at the start performance optimisations including reduced memory consumption and shader enhancements fixed random crash on entering a sector There are several fixes and enchancements that are included in this update (some of which you will not even have tried yet), the main ones of which are: Along with various minor issues, this is planned to make a large further optimisation for memory usage that will again significantly improve performance over 1.2. Well, I'll live.įor your reference, a further 1.3 update will follow in mid-November. I've had no bugs or glitches or showstoppers, but it's confirmed that until the 1.3 patch in mid November, the final part of the plot cannot be completed due to a bug. Right now, of course, I'm just hugging the plot and trying to figure out how to upgrade my weapons, but it's clear that, after applying the 1.2 patch, nothing is seriously broken. A few hours into it I barely comprehend the options because the economy is pretty deep and there are a lot of options for building and trading and managing multiple ships. The universe is massive and the game is not broken. It's serviceable, the voice acting isn't horrendous, but it's not the main point of the game.Ĥ. The storyline and production efforts in the story is clearly not the game's strong point. The interface can be learned, it's not XBox-easy to figure out, but with the help of the manual, trial and error, and time, it's really not that hard to figure out navigational and combat basics.ģ. Initial impressions after a few hours of play:ġ. It feels like a high speed dogfight, and so far the 'gassy sector' combats I've had have been absolutely great fun. And seriously, the combat in X3 is miles ahead of that in X2. The sectors with very low draw distances due to nebulae are perfect for combat. Currently, Argon Prime is a guaranteed 1-5 FPS. I'm currently waiting for the 1.3 patch, as hopefully that will make X3 playable on the lowest settings (Barton 2600+, FX5700Ultra). ![]() Oh, and collecting them merely dents your hull. Unlike X2, these chunks don't show up on the map, gravidar, or targetting computer. Just like X2, you can shoot an asteroid and it fragments into small chunks. But, as the super spiffy graphics make the game unplayable 75% of the time, I can't see me getting to the long-term in a hurry.Īn example of the badness: Just like X2, you can buy and fit Mining Drills and Ore Collectors. ![]() There are many features that apparently will only come to the fore in the long term, NPCs building new factories, a more dynamic economy and so on. OK, so X2 sucked for UI, but once you learnt it, navigating it was fast. ![]() Why? Because half the time instead of the vertical menu with shortcut keys, you get pretty icons with no shortcut keys. It does very much feel like X2 with a new fancy slow gameplay-destroying graphics engine. ![]()
